This is how Electric Gate People handles your personal information. We've tried to write it the way we'd want to read one ourselves — short, in plain English, and honest.
The short version
- We only collect what we need to do your gate work — name, address, contact details, and notes about your gate.
- We don't sell, share, or rent your details to anyone.
- We don't use cookies that track you.
- You can ask us to show you what we have, correct it, or delete it. Just email us at [email protected].
Who we are
Electric Gate People is the "data controller" under UK data protection law — the business responsible for what happens to your information.

What we collect, and when
When you book online or fill in a quote form — we collect your name, address, phone, email, and any notes you give us about your gate. We need these to give you a quote, turn up at the right place, and keep you updated about your booking.
When you call or WhatsApp us — we keep a note of your number and what you called about, so we can pick up where we left off next time you get in touch.
When we visit your property — we may take photos of your gate and write notes on what we found. These are kept with your customer record so we already know your gate next time we visit.
When you use our website — our analytics tool counts page views and tells us roughly where readers are visiting from. It doesn't track you across the web and it doesn't use cookies.
Why we keep it, and for how long
Your customer record — kept while you're a customer, so we know your gate when you come back and can send you a reminder when your annual service is due.
Booking history and invoices — kept for at least six years, because HMRC requires us to hold business records that long.
Photos and notes from visits — kept with your customer record so we recognise your gate next time without starting from scratch.
Website analytics — aggregated only. No personal data is stored.
If you'd rather we deleted everything we hold on you, just email us and we'll do it (subject to anything we have to keep for tax reasons).
Who else sees your data
We use third-party services to host our website and send you booking confirmation emails. They only see what they need to do that job, and they don't use your data for anything else.
We never sell, share, or rent your details to anyone.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- See a copy of the information we hold on you
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
- Ask us to delete what we hold on you
- Ask us to stop using your data for any particular purpose
- Get a portable copy of your data
- Object to us using your data
To do any of these, email us at [email protected]. We'll usually reply within a few days, and at the latest within one month.
Cookies and tracking
Our website doesn't use cookies that track you, and we don't show advertising on the site. Our analytics tool is cookie-less by design.
That's why there's no cookie banner — there's nothing to consent to.
Children
Our service is intended for homeowners and property owners, not for children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Complaints
If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, please email us first — we'd much rather have the chance to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator that handles data protection complaints. Their website is ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
If we update this notice, we'll change the date at the top. If we ever make a meaningful change — like collecting something new — we'll let anyone we have on file know before it takes effect.
